for the love of vintage, handmade & twee

As a girl I used to spend hours with my mother on the weekends searching through antique auctions and bric a brac stores. As an adult nothing much has changed, only how much I'm allowed to spend! This is my way of sharing my love with people who love good design and pretty little things.

Tropical Fever....

Yay- 'Spring' into Summer! With Australia starting to glow with Spring light and warmer days... so time to lighten up the house- change the cushions and throws and bring spring into the home!

Loving bold prints to bring the outdoors in and to brighten up the home... Bold forest prints are fantastic, or if your game go for tropical printed cushions.

Loving the cushions in this nook...

This is from one of my favourite homes- love the rug and bold print couch!

I love these bird cushions...

A fantastic mix of tropical cushions really make this nook look bright and fresh... great place to have a cocktail with friends...

Great way to pick up the colours in your cushions by adding fresh flowers and love that green silk poof!

Occasional chairs are perfect for bold prints without being over whelming!

Add a throw and some cushions to a crisp white bedspread for a tropical feel...

I love these rattan chairs in tropical colours... perfect for a bright tropical feel dining space...

And this idea of painting a tallboy or cheap dresser in green against a white wall in a living room this would look amazing!

Head to Etsy as there are heaps of cushions that you can play with for spring!

This bold printed cushion is great to bring a fresh look to your neutral sofa or chair. kyoozi

Tuesday's tonic...

Hi all, sorry I was lax yesterday. I am not sure if I mentioned but at work I am in the middle of photo shoot and just running around with my head cut off trying to get things done. I feel like there are days where all I do is put out fires and am not getting anything done myself and yesterday was one of those! Luckily today I feel like I have succeeded slightly and thought I would drop in and say a quick hi!

Today's tonic is a little retail therapy... Etsy you are my savour! I am also in a bit of a romantic mood today (I really am not sure why?!) and so I think that might have influenced my picks!

WANTING...

Sex in the City Style...

With the release of the new S.I.T.C I have just found a great Etsy store that sells fantastic ballet tulle skirts just like S.J.P.

I am loving Ouma! I also love their photography... the locations are great and the mood and lighting are fantastic!

The classic Sex in the City Dress... LOVE IT!

The Queens Croquet Ground. This would be a cute Alice in Wonderland themed bridesmaid dress.

Striped Carnival Part Dress. How cute is the ticket booth? Fantastic pink and oranges and the type-face on the signage is really sweet and all add that vintage Carnival feel.

Striped French Pierrot. That ticket booth is amazing for a location shot, the colours are awesome!

Romance & Ruffles- loving the rusted car in this shot and the perspective!

Quite the Menace. How good does that crumbling wall and fire crusted doorway frame the shot? I really love the atmosphere and lighting by this photographer. Wish I knew who took the shots!

I did check and they do deliver worldwide so go to Ouma for more information!

Cushion dilemma...

I have been on the search for some cushions since I purchased my new couches about six months ago. I must admit I am getting really fussy. It doesn't help that I stumbled over this amazing store in Alexandria who will custom make cushions from vintage fabrics that she has sourced from Paris, Italy, America etc. She makes each one with different fabrics front and back and pipes them. She will make a set with no two cushions the same and each a masterpiece in it's own right but match perfectly to each other. They are amazing and of course have a price tag to match! So I was told pretty quickly I was not allowed those...

So my search began... I am lucky as my couches are cream one day black the next, thanks to the wonderful interchangeable covers! So I can mix up colours to match the couches or my mood.

Right at the moment I am loving...

Knitted cushions and matching throw from Ideal Home Magazine to snuggle under on a lazy Sunday.

Owls are really in at the moment, and I can see why- such a cute feature cushion... This one is vintage design from The Butterfly House.

And he would look so cute nestled in amongst a pile of these cushions... I really do like this folk look.

How cute is this from John Lewis as a feature cushion? Would look so good on my black couch!

I am definitely loving the use of word cushions or letter cushions... These are great from Lucy Jordon Designs...

See my dilemma? With all this choice and so many different looks you can create- how am I to just pick a couple?!! Though I must admit that Etsy is my new found friend, so many cute and unique pieces!
