for the love of vintage, handmade & twee

As a girl I used to spend hours with my mother on the weekends searching through antique auctions and bric a brac stores. As an adult nothing much has changed, only how much I'm allowed to spend! This is my way of sharing my love with people who love good design and pretty little things.

Back to basics...

Hi all, I am so sorry I was absent last week- but off styling for the week and the weekend I just slept as I was exhausted!

The other day my brother and I were watching a cheesy TV show and saw an amazing loft. It reminded me of how much I love raw materials in design... It has always been a dream to own a loft apartment and really strip it back to beams, brick and light, then go to town on fantastic industrial design with lights, chairs and materials.

Here are some fantastic examples of Loft design and maximising on space, light and the raw materials.

I love this loft that features in Gossip Girl as the Humphrey's Brooklyn loft. Fantastic!

Anyway I hope you have all been well? I am looking forward to spending time at night catching up on the passed week with my favourite blogs! Cam xox

1938 California cottage...

Hi all... sorry for once again posting on a Tuesday, I really hope this doesn't get to a be a habit! Work is once again frantic and unfortunately can't see an end for a month or so yet. I saw an image of this amazing kitchen on Style Files last week and finally had a chance to track down the article in House Beautiful to see more... and feel in love! The cottage is in California and is owned by the designer Krista Ewart's sister. I think the white with the amazing bold colours used throughout is gorgeous and would be great for the Australian light.

Fantastic white wood ceilings and beams... though the colours are bold against all that white it becomes subtle and soothing...

Loving the green and pink tones used throughout. The bold couch against the plain cushions and plain white coffee table makes a statement without going over the top.

A little reading nook... those black and white spotted stools are amazing!

Fantastic old 1960's chairs that have been painted white and reupholstered fit right into the theme with their amazing designed backs. Also love the scalloping on the bookshelves...

The shot that made me want more- who can go past a pink Smeg fridge? This is actually part of the guests suite... can I please stay? :)

This is a shot through the main kitchen. I love the red lights and those bunk beds for the kids with that amazing whale wallpaper...

The bedrooms- amazing yellow lamps and rug!

One of the children's bedroom in turquoise and red. I love that side table!

Amazing outdoor setting- love those old cane chairs and table with the vibrant pink fabric and that surf board really tops it off!

This house gives me amazing house envy! To see the full interview go to House Beautiful.

New York loft...

If there is one place that comes to mind when you mention style in America it is New York; the hub of fashionists, the home of Sex in the City and one of my favourite shows the younger version of S.I.T.C. Gossip Girl. HOT! And to me they idea of a New York loft is heaven. All that open plan space, the high ceilings, amazing beams and raw surfaces gives you an amazing blank canvas on which you can splash your own style. And don't the New Yorkers do it well?

From Living Etc a mix between Balinese chic and contemporary style...

This loft in Brooklyn NY from Style Files is stunning! Check out those amazing beams and sky light...

Sheer curtain really add a romantic air against the functional loft... oh and light is AMAZING!

From Apartment Therapy is this amazing Soho loft owned by Marcus Nispel. Once again I love the rawness of materials; the brick, the exposed beams, the unadorned windows, those amazing art deco lights, the floor to ceiling book shelf... this is my heaven!

I love this staircase against the stripped back walls... the height of that ceiling is just awesome!

And who doesn't need a lap pool in their amazing loft!

Enjoy your weekend everyone. I will be off on my first day of jewellery making- so wish me luck! Hopefully I will soon have unique pieces to wear & hopefully not too 'unique' that they are really not functional. :) xox

The perfect relaxation room...

Like every girl I love a good soak in a bathtub. After a long day at work all I can think of is pouring myself a long bath, burning candles and climbing in with a good book and a glass of wine. As such the bathroom to me is a key room in the house, not just a convenience. So my dream bathroom consists of...

Love this space, imagine lying back looking at the beams, flooded by light from those windows or staring into the starry night. Plus who doesn't need antlers to hang their bath sheet on!

Though being a vintage girl I really love claw bathtubs! My parents even bought me one to turn into a coffee table once. And this is just divine with the large back on it so that you can sit up and read and still sink into the depths... DIVINE!

It maybe a little decadent but really every girl needs somewhere they can perch & pull on their stockings.

But best of all when it is a hard day, you really need....

& remember the best memories are always made with a 'close' friend! :) Enjoy.
